Free and open to everyone young and old! Our monthly programs are held on the 4th Monday of each month in Phelps. Guests from around upstate New York speak on a variety of topics! Special programs and activities are held throughout the year. Snacks are provided by the PCHS refreshment committee. MARCH PROGRAM - Phelps Community Historical Society and Marion Donnelly present “The Wilder Trail”, Monday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m., Phelps Arts Center, 15 Church Street, Phelps. This is the true story of the 1984 murder of Phelps resident Beth Dodge by serial killer Christopher Wilder. For more information call 548-4940. This presentation is FREE and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
APRIL PROGRAM – Monday, April 23, 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, Rte. 96, Phelps, ANNUAL POTLUCK DINNER at 6:30 p.m. Please bring your own table service and a dish to pass. Program: “A Step Back in Time” is
a history of Lapresi’s Market presented by the Mickey Lapresi Family. For more information, call 548-4940. This presentation is FREE and open to the public.
MAY PROGRAM – Monday, May 21 (NOTE: Due to observance of Memorial Day, program held on 3rd Monday of May), 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post: Seeley B. Parish, 1346 Rte. 96, Phelps. BUFFALO SOLDIER, the name given to African-American Army units, is a presentation by Bing Reeves of the history of the 9th and 10th Cavalry from the 1800s. For more information, call 548-4940. MOTHER’S DAY TEA – Saturday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m., Howe House Museum, 66 Main Street, Phelps, New York. This traditional English tea includes finger sandwiches, deviled eggs, strawberries and cream, scones, shortbread and tea. Reservatons required. Limited to 25 guests. Tickets: $12.00 (women and girls ages 13 years and older); $8.00 ( girls ages 5-12 years). For reservations call 315-548-4940.

On The First Floor (year round) Visit the first floor of the two-story outhouse. And the Oak Room, Kitchen, Office / Giftshop as well as the many other rooms with rotating exhibits. - History of Phelps Fire Departments From the neighborhood fire station to the consolidated halls, from parades to fund raisers – come celebrate the dedication of our men and women who are the best of our community. In the East Room at The Howe House, 66 Main Street, Wed-Fri 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m..
- On the Second Floor (Year Round) Our second floor has a series of former bedrooms which exhibit early pioneer household tools, Sauerkraut history, sports and tools as well as a children’s room and the POW/MIA Table to our Veterans and a Fireman’s room. In good weather, we’ll take you to the upstairs, second story outhouse. At The Howe House, 66 Main Street, Wed-Fri 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m..
Country Lawyer’s Office Visit the offices of The Country Lawyer – the book written by Bellamy Partridge made Phelps and the small town lawyer practice a household name. Purchased in an auction for $88 in the 1840s, this ca. 1835 building was actually the offices for several “Country Lawyers” from 1840s to 1999. It was given to PCHS in 2005 and restored in 2008. So take a step back in time! 7 Church Street.
