2008 Spring Adventures in Phelps
Monday, April 14: "Let's Play a Game" (Phelps Arts Center) Join the arts center and the historical society in playing old fashioned games with a twist. From marbles to scavenger hunts, to indoor "horseshoes" and drawing your own self portrait!
Wednesday, April 16: "Traditional Bark Long House & Story Telling" (Howe House) Join edcators from Ganondagan State Historic Site as they present programs in the Haudenosaunee tradition. Learn about life in the long house and enjoy timeless stories!
Friday, April 18: "Our Boys in Blue" (Howe House) Join the Town Historian, Don Tiffany, and Rand Darrow and others as they present this program about Life in Phelps and the Civil War. A fun morning where you can meet a civil war soldier and a Phelps settler! See the Road to Freedom Exhibit at the Howe House afterwards.
For all ages. Adventure sessions will be held from 9AM-11:30 AM on days that Midlakes Schools are not in session. Activities consist of a guest speaker, craft and story/songs related to the topic. Adults and caretakers are welcome to come and participate in programming. Snacks will be provided. $2 donation per person/per day. Let us know that you are coming - register ahead - program attendence is 25 people per day.
Little Treasures (ages 3-5)
The Little Treasures program is for 3-5 year old children and their caregivers on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Each class has a limit of 10 participating parent/child combinations. Little Treasures is a creative and educational 5-week program designed to delight and inspire! Join us as we explore our historical wonders at Phelps Historical Society. Activities are both indoor and outdoor activities integrating art, socialization, physical senses, history, social studies, language and play. Pre-registration is requested. Program Fee: $5 a session/$20 for all five sessions (PCHS members); $7 a session/ $35 for five sessions (non-members).
Sessions are held at the Howe House on 66 Main St., Phelps, from 9:30 - 11:00AM.
