Donate Your Time

Hello!  If you are reading this you have shown an interest in volunteering for The Phelps Community Center.  I am Janie Burgess, the Executive Director for the center, and I am very excited to have this opportunity to present our needs to you and to have an opportunity to answer any questions you may have.

There are many opportunities at the center where you can help.  It does not have to be a huge time commitment to help us out.  We really just need 3 hours per month from several different people.  Maybe you are only available certain times of the year.  Any gift of time you can give us we would be very happy to receive.  Below are some examples of how you can help:

Assist with keeping our toddler room in order
Help prepare for an upcoming event
Assist with Events
Assist in the garden
Painting
Serve on a Committee – Fundraising, Special Events
Assist with a workshop that might need an extra set of hands
Decorate a bulletin board
Help supervise the building during the evening
Assist in the office
Assist with small cleaning tasks
Distribute posters/flyers around town
Perhaps you have a skill that you would be willing to share with us!

I will be more than happy to show you around the community center, have you meet our staff,  get to know you better and you us.

If you would like to set up a time to talk or visit, please contact me at director@phelpscc.org  or 315-548-8484.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you again for the interest you have shown and I hope you will soon be a part of our Volunteer Team.

Sincerely Yours,
Janie

Dear friend of the community,

Five years ago, an elementary school building was transformed into a place where the community meets and activity thrives. Inside the walls of the brick building seniors gather to share a meal, teens meet to play basketball, preschoolers listen to stories and school-age children are getting assistance with their homework. Activities and events are held within these walls that make a community thrive.

This is your community center. Through our doors you will find a computer lab, open gym, Teen and Adult Rec Rooms, Fitness Center, School-Age childcare program and so much more. We offer a variety of adult and children’s classes and activities. The Phelps’ Village Office, Police Department, Community Library, Country Kids’ Preschool, and Community Food Cupboard are among the many organizations that reside here. This past year our center was “home” to the Phenomenal Phelps Race, Kelly Miller Circus, Mustang Rally, Harvest Festival, and St. Nick Celebration.

The Phelps Community Center is at the heart of our village and we need your support!

By sending your donation, you can make a significant difference in the ability to not only maintain our facility and offerings to the community, but to enrich and enhance them as well. In 2010, we plan to bring new community education classes and family events to the PCC. The Playroom will open soon; a free place for our youngest community members to grow and learn. We will also strive to make enhancements to the Teen Room, giving our teens additional activities and opportunities. Our Fitness Center will be getting new equipment, including an elliptical and Smith Machine. In the upcoming year, our center is looking forward to the improvement of our building’s security with the replacement of exterior doors.

Your financial investment, no matter the amount, is very much appreciated by all who enter our doors.

Thank you for helping to support the Phelps Community Center!

Sincerely,

Tom Cheney Heather DeRuyter Phyllis Mouton
