Free and open to everyone young and old!   Our monthly programs are held on the 4th Monday of each month in Phelps.  Guests from around upstate NY speak on a variety of topics!   • BROOKS OBSERVATORY - Monday, August 23, 2010 – 7:30 PM. Meet us on Castle Street in Geneva and come to the Brooks Observatory. We will be taking a special tour – email or call ahead and let us know you are coming so that we can let the owner know in advance! 315.548.4940 or histsoc@fltg.net FREE.
  • PCHS at NYS FAIR- Sunday, August 29, 2010 from  10 AM to 10 PM    AND        FL Arts Trail & Phelps Arts Center, Friday, Sept 3rd  from 4 PM-10 PM  – 2 Days Only! Phelps (PCHS & FLAT/PAC) will be at the the Fair as part of the NYS Cultural Heritage Tourism Network! Come visit the Fair in Syracuse and stop by the Center of Progress Building. We will be right next to the Syracuse Conference & Vistior’s Bureau. Images of Phelps, Games (maybe cabbage bowling), Treats and other Hands-on elements will be part of the fair experience, including the ability to get more information about Phelps! FREE.
  •  MUSICAL MAYHEM TRIP  Wednesday, September 8th, 2010      7:45 AM to 6:45 PM   – PCHS & Port Gibson Travelers are off again, this time to  Cortland Theatre to see “The Andrew Brothers” musical with  a meal and other fun sights thrown in….You see, the Andrew Sisters were scheduled to perform at the USO, but then Laverne gets sick – so what to do? Step back into the days of boogie-woogie &  tap and laugh your blues away! $89 per person.   • EXHIBITS 

School Days & Old Time Businesses (July-December 2010) From One-room Schoolhouses to consolidated districts, we are celebrating “Reading, Writing & Arithematic” in Phelps! There will also be a section about the MORS – Midlakes One Room schoolhouse renovation project on the Midlakes (Phelps & Clifton Springs) campus.  From old fashioned advertising give aways to signs, stories and photos –  enjoy visiting the businesses of Phelps past. At The Howe House, 66 Main Street, Wed-Sat 10 AM-4 PM. 

Country Lawyer’s Office (June-August 2010) Visit the offices of The Country Lawyer – the book written by Bellamy Partridge made Phelps and the small town lawyer practice a household name. Purchased in an auction for $88 in the 1840s; this ca. 1835 building was actually the offices for several “Country Lawyers” from 1840s to 1999.  It was given to PCHS in 2005 and  restored in 2008. So take a step back in time!  7 Church Street. Summer Schedule open on Saturday, June 12 and July 10 from 1 PM-4 PM;  Saturday, August 7 from 10 AM to 1PM; and Saturday, August 14, 1 PM- 4PM.
