MEETINGS

Town Zoning Board meets the 3rd Thursday of the month.
Town Planning Board meets the 4th Thursday of the month.
Town Board Meetings are the 2nd Monday of each month.
All the Boards meet at the Phelps Town Court/Meeting Facility, 1331 Rt. 88, Phelps.

APPLYING FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE

Anyone wishing to obtain a marriage license must have the following information with them when they come into the Clerk’s office:
• Birth Certificate
• Driver’s License
• Social Security Card or know your number
• Divorce Papers for as many times as you have been married & divorced.
Both the bride and groom must be present to complete the license.  The cost of the license is $40.00.  The Town accepts either a personal check or cash.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The last day to pay Town and County Taxes for 2010 is March 31, 2010 by 4:00 PM. After that date the taxes will be returned to the Ontario County Treasurer. We will accept payments by mail as long as they are U. S. Post Office date stamped by March 31, 2010. No postage machine dates will be accepted after March 31, 2010. If the office is closed and you wish to leave your tax payment, we have a locked drop box in front of the Town Hall for the residents’ convenience. A receipt will be sent to you on the next business day.

The Assessor’s Hours are 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. All exemptions for 2010 assessment roll are due by March 1, 2010.

The Code Enforcement and Zoning Office hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please remember that if you are doing work on your property, please check with them to see if a permit is needed.

The Town Offices will be closed for Martin Luther King Day, January 18, 2010 and Presidents Day, February 15, 2010.

YOUR DOG LICENSES ARE RENEWABLE EVERY YEAR.

We have several people that have not renewed their dog’s license(s). Late notices will be sent out and must be paid within 10 days from the date of the notice. If these licenses are not paid, they will be referred to the Ontario Co. Humane society.

If they still remain unpaid after the humane society contacts the owner(s), a ticket will be issued, and you will have to appear in court, pay a fine and still have to register the dog.

Wouldn’t it be easier to pay $12.50 for a spayed/neutered dog or $20.50 for an unspayed or unneutered dog than to risk the chance of receiving a ticket and going to court?

Town Water and Sewer Bills

Town of Phelps Water Bills are sent to residents in the months of January, April, July and October. They are due by the 20th of that month. If the bills are not paid by the 20th of the month a 10% late fee is assessed to the amount due.

The Town of Phelps Sewer Bills are sent only once a year on July 1st. They are due by July 20th or a 10% late fee is assessed.
