The Studio for the Performing Arts was founded in Newark in 1997, and provides dance education for all ages. Their goal is to teach proper technique with ballet as the foundation. To find out more about the classes, schedules, and studio please visit their website at SPADancing.com.

Open Auditions for Aladdin on Janurary 28th for area dancers the times are Ages 3-5 2:00-2:30 p.m. Ages 5-9 2:30-3:00 p.m. Ages 9 through adults 3-4pm. Preschool / Youth Dance Classes:
- Tiny Tots The first step in pre-school dance education, Tiny Tots is for children age 3 and 4, and focuses on helping toddlers with socialization and motor skills.
- Creative Movement For children aged 3 to 5 years, this program encourages and embraces the imagination and love of movement and song. At this level, children will start learning basic ballet positions and terms.
- Pre-Combo Young dancers, 5-7 years old, will now begin learning the basics of Tap while also continuing their education in ballet vocabulary, terms, and positions.
Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Pointe, and Ballet…
While ballet is the foundation of youth dance education at the Studio for the Performing Arts; they meet various dance abilities with an array of well disciplined classes in a variety of dance style. These programs are age appropriate and include:
- Little Star Program (ages 7 & up) students will continue their training in ballet and tap, but will also begin to learn jazz and lyrical dance techniques.
- Big Star Program (ages 7 & up) invitation only
- Mini Program for those who have completed the Little Star Program, this course continues to challenge and educate aspiring young dancers.
- Junior Program (ages 10 & up) takes students to the next level of dance education by allowing them to demonstrate what they have already learned, while also providing new challenges and more complex choreography.
- Senior Program (ages 11 & up) offers ongoing training in an advanced curriculum program
